2020 Season in Brief: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Important Dates:

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk opens daily with limited rides on weekdays beginning March 30. Rides are now open on weekends. Full daily operation runs May 22 through Aug. 16, with the park reverting to weekend-only operation Sept. 12.

Free Movies on the Beach return Wednesdays June 17 through Aug. 12. Free Friday Night Bands on the Beach run June 12-Sept. 4.

Dates for Coca-Cola Nights and Retro Nights have not yet been announced.

What’s New?

The Boardwalk is bolstering its family lineup with two new attractions for 2020.

Wave Rider will occupy the former spot of the Ferris wheel between Rock-O-Plane and Tsumani. The 35-foot-tall ride, manufactured by Salem, Ore.-based Battech Enterprises, sends up to three riders down a wavy up-and-down slide. The slide is expected to open in time for spring break.

Lighthouse Lift Off will replace the Climb ‘N Conquer climbing wall at the entrance of the Boardwalk located between the Looff Carousel and Undertow. Riders in a tandem seat can pull a rope to ascend a rotating 30-foot tower, while letting go of the rope allows the seat to sink slowly towards the ground. The interactive ride is scheduled to open in time for Memorial Day Weekend.
